Hip Swings

Benefits:
Core stabilization.
Dynamic stretching of glutes, hamstrings, and gastrocnemius.
 
Pre-Requisites:
Clients should have reasonable ROM through lumbar-hip-pelvic region without pain.
 
Preparation:
Begin by anchoring your right arm to a wall or sturdy object.
Stand up tall and draw in the navel towards the spine at the same time squeezing the glutes. 
 
Movement:
Place left hand against wall.
Controllably swing right leg forward stretching the glutes, hamstrings, and Gastrocnemius.
Continue by swinging leg backwards with optimal core control dynamically stretching the rectus femoris and illiopsoas. 
1 set of 5-10 reps.

The Daily Plate

I've mentioned www.thedailyplate a few times in the monthly newsletter and many times to all of you.  I wanted to encourage everyone to go to the website and play around a little bit, see what you think.  If you start to use it, you will lose weight!

Larry Herman a long-time client who has struggled to lose some of his last remaining pounds did not think The Daily Plate (TDP) would work for him.  His reluctance was what I heard from many of you.  "I won't be able to enter all my food.  I'll forget.  It's too complicated."  Well, Larry's been using the website religiously (no joke) for over 3 weeks and has lost 10lbs!
 
Another feature I recently learned about on TDP are 'friends."  Like MySpace for people watching their nutrition and calorie intake.  You can chat with friends, offer them support even check out what they've been munching on.  I have a few friends but would like more.  If you decide to check it out add me as your friend (erosvold.)  A word of warning though.....I'll check on you!
